Halloween Roundup

Halloween is the kick off to the most wonderful time of the year.  The holiday season!  As such, it holds a special place in my heart.  It is full of creative possibilities and opportunities for family bonding.  I mean, what better way is there to bond with your loved ones than dressing up together?  Preferably with an AWESOME THEME!  I can’t tell you how many times we have all sat around the table laughing hysterically at group costume ideas.  (And it is always funniest to choose the baby’s costume!)  So here is our family Halloween roundup to date.  Have we matched every year?  No.  Will we in the future?  I HOPE SO!  (But let’s be honest, probably not)  So I’m soaking up the good times as we go, and sharing our family fun with you!

First may I suggest… Get your family Halloween Photos professionally taken!  You won’t regret it.  Check out a Halloween photo session here.

Disney Villains

Disney has a special kind of magic.  And for Halloween it’s fun to be EEEVIIL.  Just not too evil for the kiddos.  Such a fun concept, and I LOVED making the Ursula costume!  We are Ursula, Scar, Gaston, Captain Hook, Lady Tremaine, and Maleficent.  To see more click here.

The Phantom of the Opera

I was beyond delighted when my kids latched on to this idea!  Not only did I enjoy the full out opera singing all month long, it was so fun to expose them to the different interpretations and formats of this classic play  They even ended up reading an abridged version of the book!  We are Carlotta, Christine, The Cymbal Monkey, Madame Giry, and The Phantom!  To see more click here.

..and one extra of my little cymbal monkey.  Like I said, the baby’s costume is always fun!

Choose Your Own!

This year everyone had their own ideas about what to be.  Sometimes we have years where two kids want to be the same thing, and that’s allowed too!  (Though so far they eventually settled on different costumes every time)  They are Vanellope Von Schweet, A Shark, and a Purple Minion.   Have you ever painted your kid’s face?  If you haven’t, you should.  It’s good times.

The Wizard of Oz

This is the only time I will ever let my kids call me a witch.  We are a the Scarecrow, Glinda, Dorothy, and the Wicked Witch of the West.  To see more click here.

See.  Face Painting.  Fun.

The Nightmare Before Christmas

This is another one of my favorite years!  I found a tiny tuxedo jacket with tails at the thrift store, and drew lines on it with a paint pen.  The Sally dress is a just a sheath with the patches ironed on with double-sided interfacing.  Then we drew on the designs together!  Family Fun people!  They are Zero, Sally, and Jack Skellington.  I was Mary Poppins, but somehow only ended up with a blurry iphone pic.  Yes, more Disney love.  To see more click here.

Scooby Doo

Isn’t she the CUTEST Velma??  I look at these and it reminds me of how the first song she sang to her little brother was “Scooby dooby doo where are you?”  It was the sweetest, most adorable thing!  To see more click here.

And just a few more from before the time when I invested in a DSLR.  I still treasure every picture of my cute babies!

Hermione and Princess Leia.  (I was Harry Potter and Daddy was Darth Vadar.  He was her Faaather.)

Ariel and Aurora

Cat and Mouse.

Hope everyone enjoys a safe and happy October full of holiday fun!

Disney Villains

Halloween 2015.  This is by far my favorite Halloween for our family ever!  And the kids were SO into it!   Making the Ursula costume was such a fun out of the box challenge, and I couldn’t be happier with how it turned out.  AND my hubby joined in as Gaston!  He’s not too into Halloween so he must truly love me.  We have Ursula, Gaston, Scar (who was not too happy to be in pictures), Captain Hook, Lady Tremaine, and Maleficent.  Happy Halloween!!

The Phantom of The Opera is there…

Halloween 2014.  We embraced out inner singers and went with a Phantom of the Opera theme.  There was some serious opera singing going on in our house… And of course a quick trip out to the garage to snap some pics!  We have Carlotta, Christine Daae, The cymbal monkey, Madame Giry, And last but not least, THE PHANTOM!

A “Super” Winter Formal

What a fantastic group of youth!  The guys found their inner super heroes, and the girls found their inner queens, and they all brought out the best in each other.  Everyone had a blast on this super hero themed winter formal shoot!

Thanks, Jess for approaching me with such a fun idea!
