With each image I am continually striving to capture emotion, relationships, and memories that will be treasures for a lifetime. I love the process of composing a beautiful image, and how photography allows me to find the extraordinary in the ordinary. As a photographer and as a person I am constantly learning, growing and experimenting, and I am loving the journey!

Workshop Recap

As promised, the first little recap of the I heart faces workshop. We met at the beautiful San Onofre State Beach. It was a gorgeous setting complete with dramatic bluffs, wildflowers in bloom, and a long rocky beach. This model came dressed to impress for a high fashion shoot. I just love the turquoise. It makes a bold statement and adds the perfect pop of color to the images. We were battling some very harsh mid-day light. I am a big proponent of scheduling sessions during the “golden hour.” (The hour before sunset when the light is warm and soft) However, we used a few photographer tricks and (as Tim Gunn would say) “made it work with” some really great results… So here is the first installment!

Choosing custom photography is an investment in your memories. It is an opportunity to preserve the sweet times and important moments in your life. When people are asked what item they would be sure to save in an emergency, the most common answer is "my pictures." Your custom portraits will be a treasure now and in the years to come.

Tips and tricks

•Stay relaxed! The most important thing you can do for your session is to relax! Stress and frustration will come through in your photos, and will especially affect children in the session. Take a deep breath and enjoy the ride!

•Take into account the feeling you want for your session. Are you looking for a casual feel? Something more urban? A formal session? Once you identify the feel of your session it will help with the choice of location, clothing, and props.

•Choose clothing that expresses who you are. In group portraits consider coordinating, but not necessarily matching outfits. Use layers to create texture and richness

•Do not choose clothing that is itchy or uncomfortable for small children

•Bring along grooming supplies for last minute touch-ups

•For small children and babies consider bringing a small snack or a bottle just in case they need a break during the session
